New rooftop bar in Cary’s Fenton to bring dancing, cocktails and Mediterranean dishes

As if there weren’t already fun things to do in Cary’s Fenton area, a new rooftop bar is about to light it up even more with views, cocktails and dance parties.

The Mediterranean-inspired AVA Rooftop Bar will sit atop the same building shared by Sports & Social and PBR Cary, at 301 Fenton Gateway Drive.

The bar will open at 5 p.m. Friday, April 7, and operate five days a week beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesdays and noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

For its debut weekend, AVA will feature live music, DJs, and a meet and greet with “The Bachelor” alumnus and Raleigh native Matt James on Saturday, April 8.

James was the first African-American man to star on the series, during its 25th season. He will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. for pictures and autographs. To sign up for the meet and greet go to axs.com/events.

On Sunday, April 9, AVA will host a Masters Tournament Watch Party with a mobile golf simulator and a chance to win a custom-tailored green jacket from Raleigh-based Bunbury Custom Clothiers.

The rooftop is decorated with greenery and lounge-style seating.

The food was curated by James Beard Award nominee Chef John Suley and includes small plates like artisanal cheeses, meats, dips and olives, vegetables and hummus. Other items include grilled chicken, lamb and beef skewers, and salads.

Additionally, there are alcoholic beverages, including sangria, Negroni selections and draft or canned beer.

AVA is the third concept opened in Fenton by Live! Hospitality & Entertainment. It shares a space with Sports & Social and PBR Cary, which opened in February.

Sports & Social is the chain’s first location in North Carolina and has a wall of TVs, brunch, games and other live activities. PBR Cary has a mechanical bull.

Surrounding the three bars are restaurants like Colletta, CRU Food & Wine Bar, The Agency Bar + Social, and Dram & Draught.

The Fenton mixed-use development opened off Interstate 40 and Cary Towne Boulevard in 2021 with 250,000 square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment options.
