Tina Turner's son Ronnie Turner dies at 62 from metastatic colon cancer

Tina Turner's son Ronnie has died, his mother and wife announced Friday. He was 62.

"Ronnie, you left the world far too early," read a tribute from Tina Turner to her son, posted Friday to her Instagram account. "In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son."

Ronnie Turner's wife, French singer Afida Turner, shared a tribute to her husband Friday morning on social media, calling him a "true angel" and "my best friend."

"I did the best to the end this time I was no (sic) able to save you," she wrote on Instagram, noting Ronnie is now with his brother Craig and father, Ike Turner. "Rest in paradise. So unfair."

An autopsy report by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office obtained by USA TODAY reveals Ronnie Turner died due to complications of metastatic colon carcinoma on Thursday.

Metastatic cancer refers to cancer cells that have spread to other parts of the body where the initial diagnosis was found, also known as stage 4 cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Other significant conditions listed by the deputy medical examiner include atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The condition stiffens arteries and can cause restriction of blood flow or blood clots, per Mayo Clinic.

Ronnie Turner was the youngest of Tina Turner's four sons and made an appearance in his mother's 1993 biopic, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" starring Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne as Tina and Ike Turner.

Craig Turner, died of apparent suicide at 59 in 2018. He worked in real estate and was Tina Turner's firstborn son, whom she had at age 18 with saxophonist Raymond Hill. Craig was adopted by Ike Turner after they wed in 1962.

Following Craig's death, Tina wrote on social media that her "saddest moment as a mother" was when she "said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby."

Tina Turner also adopted two of Ike's sons: Ike Jr., 64, and Michael, 63. She divorced Ike Turner in 1978 after 16 years of marriage. She married German music producer Erwin Bach, her partner of nearly 30 years, in 2013.

Ike Turner died in 2007 at age 76, which a medical examiner ruled was due to a cocaine overdose.
