Rod Stewart and Elton John have made up after three-year 'money-grabbing' row
Sir Rod Stewart and Sir Elton John are mates again after ending their three-year row about “money-grabbing” shows.
The two music veterans have had a stormy friendship for 50 years, often joking about the ways they have tried to wind each other up, but the insults hit a new level in 2018 when Sir Rod slated Sir Elton during a US TV show appearance for promoting his 300-date farewell tour.
The Maggie May singer called Sir Elton “money-grabbing” and said that his promotion of the tour “stinks of selling tickets”, angering his old friend.
But now, according to The Sun Sir Rod has told The Harry Redknapp Show podcast that they’ve buried the hatchet after their longest-running fall out.
He said: “I say to my kids, ‘A man apologises, go and apologise to your mother’. We’ve just made up as friends again, me and Elton.

“We’ve always been fierce enemies, as you know, through the years, but it’s always been at a playful level.
“But we had the worst row, like a married couple. It went on forever.”
Handbags and Gladrags singer Sir Rod admitted to being “a bit spiteful” in the interview which will be available from Tuesday, and said that he regretted it.
He added “I do love him” as he confirmed that they were mates once more.
Sir Elton held his own in the spat, writing about the incident in his recent tell-all autobiography, Me.

He wrote: “I thought he had a f***ing cheek, complaining about me promoting a tour while he was sat on a TV show promoting his own tour.
"I had no idea what I’d done to upset him so much, which was ironic, given the hours I’d put in over the years deliberately trying to annoy him.”
