After launching its debut bridal collection just a few months ago, Rixo is now stepping in to help out bridesmaids-to-be with a new line dedicated to the bridal party. The London label – which is known for its punchy prints and beautiful vintage-inspired dresses – has created a five-piece collection, coming in five different colourways, which the founders hope will deliver on having something to suit every single body shape and will fit to varying personal tastes.

Although this is Rixo’s first official bridesmaid collection, the brand’s main line has been chosen countless times by brides for the occasion – and this made for the perfect market research when it came to designing specifically for bridesmaids.

“Over the past (almost) six years of Rixo, we have absolutely loved seeing our ready-to-wear dresses on so many gorgeous bridesmaids and bridal parties,” Henrietta Rix tells us. “We have used this time to really understand what makes the perfect bridesmaid dress; the style, fit and colours that our customers always come back to. Armed with this knowledge, we decided to design a bridesmaid line that celebrates our findings.”

Rix and fellow co-founder Orlagh McCloskey identified five key shapes, which they have found to be the most popular with their customers, with each style chosen to complement different body shapes or personal tastes.

“We have been bridesmaids ourselves in the past and with our own weddings on the horizon, the conversations are starting all over again, so we really understand the varying and often passionate tastes and styles among a group of girls – and we believed this individualism should be celebrated,” McCloskey adds.

The dresses come in five different colourways, but four of the five have been created in the same print, which the brand hopes will offer a “casual sense continuity throughout”, meaning that the bridal party does not necessarily have to stick to one colour. The collection has also been designed with the idea in mind that they will be worn again and again, unlike some bridesmaid dresses, which sit at the back of the wardrobe after the big day.

"We have always designed our collections with longevity in mind, we love the idea that a piece can be worn in lots of different ways and hopefully treasured for years to come," explains Rix.
