Aaron Hernandez's brother sentenced to time served in shooting threats case
The brother of the late New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was sentenced Friday to 18 months of prison time already served for threatening to carry out a shooting at the University of Connecticut and to kill three people including a judge in 2023. Dennis Hernandez, 38, who went by “DJ” while playing quarterback and wide receiver for UConn football in the mid-2000s, was suffering severe mental health problems at the time of the threats and has since been receiving treatment and taking medication, according to his public defender, Josh Ewing. U.S. District Judge Sarala Nagala in Hartford also sentenced Hernandez to three years of supervised release, during which he must continue mental health and substance abuse treatment, allow probation officials to monitor his electronic devices and stay away from UConn and other locations he threatened, the Connecticut U.S. attorney's office said.

A UMass student who made a half-court shot during a women’s basketball game halftime promotion will get his $10,000 prize from the school itself after the insurance company refused to pay because, it said, his foot was on the line. Noah Lee was selected for the contest on Wednesday that required him to make a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot in 25 seconds. “After their review of the four camera angles we provided, they determined the half-court shot was disqualified as it was not taken behind the half-court line,” the school said Friday.

Mizuho raises Robinhood price target on sports betting interest
Mizuho raised its price target on Robinhood Markets (HOOD) from $60 to $65, while analysts maintained their Outperform rating on the stock. The Mizuho team cited its own survey results that gauged investor interest in also using the platform for sports betting. Although Robinhood had initial plans to launch sports betting contracts for the Super Bowl, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) said Tuesday it has formally requested that Robinhood “not permit customers to access” sports event contracts.
