Arit Anderson and the Rich brothers (Harry and David Rich) are leaving Garden Rescue, with the upcoming sixth series being their last.

BBC's daytime garden makeover show is having a shake-up, with three new garden designers – Lee Burkhill, Flo Headlam and Chris Hull – joining the presenting team alongside Charlie Dimmock.

'Arit Anderson and the Rich brothers have decided to leave the programme after this year, however they will continue to feature in the latest series starting this month,' BBC said in a statement.

Garden Rescue, produced by Spun Gold, sees designers compete to create fabulous gardens for homeowners around the country.

'I am so excited to welcome Lee, Chris and Flo to our Garden Rescue family and I can’t wait for viewers to enjoy their fantastic garden designs,' says Alex McLeod, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime and Early Peak. 'I'd also like to say a big thank you to Harry, David and Arit whose passion and creativity have made the show what it is today.'

'Garden Ninja' Lee Burkhill will be the first to appear on screen alongside Charlie, Arit and the Rich brothers when the new episodes of Garden Rescue begin on BBC Daytime later this month, from 24th May.

Flo and Chris only began filming with Garden Rescue in early May, so they will make their first appearance in series seven of the programme, alongside Charlie and Lee, when it airs in 2022.

Garden Rescue first aired in 2016 with Chelsea Flower Show Gold winners, Harry and David, alongside one of Britain's best-loved gardeners, Ground Force star Charlie. In 2019, Gardeners' World presenter Arit joined the team.

What is Garden Rescue all about?

Garden Rescue, produced by Spun Gold TV, sees garden designers compete against each other to build dream gardens for homeowners across the country.

Each programme sees the team descend on a garden that is badly in need of a makeover. The homeowners will have their own real-world budget that the garden designers must stick to.

The designers will compete to try to create a garden that fulfils its owners' needs. The homeowner has to choose one garden design to be built – the losing designer will then have to work with the winning designer to bring the vision to life.

Garden Rescue cast

Meet the new garden designers

‘Garden Ninja’ Lee Burkhill is a multi-award-winning garden designer, garden blogger, vlogger, presenter and general plant enthusiast based in North West England. 'It’s really exciting to be joining the Garden Rescue team and to have the opportunity to inspire the public with fantastic designs and gardening tips,' he says.

Flo Headlam, who was part of the Gardeners' World presenting team between 2016-2019, has worked as a professional gardener since 2012, after studying general horticulture and garden design. 'I am very excited to be joining the Garden Rescue family and am looking forward to adding my horticulture flavour and having some fun with the other designers,' says Flo.

Chris Hull has over 10 years' industry experience working on high-end residential, public realm and community-based projects throughout the UK and abroad. His early training in ecology and conservation means these are a huge consideration for him, and are incorporated in the work he carries out. 'It's fantastic to be joining the team and a great opportunity to make an impact to people’s lives, through fun and creative garden design,' says Chris.

The Rich brothers

Harry Rich and his younger brother David, better known as the Rich brothers, from the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, became the new faces in TV gardening after joining Garden Rescue at its launch in 2016.

Harry launched landscape design studio, Rich Landscapes, in 2011 with David joining him three years later – their contemporary designs combine landscaping with architecture and a strong connection to nature. Notably, the brothers won a Gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2013, becoming the youngest winners of a Gold medal for a Show Garden. In 2020, the brothers launched an affordable garden collection with Habitat.

Charlie Dimmock

Having first appeared on our screens almost 25 years ago, Charlie became a household name on British garden makeover series, Ground Force, in which she starred alongside Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh. A hit 90s show, the programme ran from 1997 to 2005.

Charlie, who studied horticulture and previously trained for a year at the famous Chelsea Physic Garden in London, also fronted TV show, Charlie's Garden Army, and has written several gardening books, including Water Garden Workbook, Container Gardening, and Enjoy Your Garden.

In 2019 there was speculation online that Charlie had left the show after she was absent for a few episodes, however it was soon confirmed that she was still very much part of the team, and she continued to feature in episodes alongside the Rich brothers and newcomer Arit.

She joined the Garden Rescue team of expert designers in 2019.

Arit studied gardening at Capel Manor College and had success at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2013, winning the Fresh Talent category for a student design collaboration. She also won a Gold Medal for her own conceptual garden design at RHS Hampton Court in 2016.
