Hasbro took heat for not stocking enough Force Awakens toys during the holiday season, with figures representing the film’s lead in especially short supply. But the toy giant has several Rey-themed playthings for 2016, including (clockwise from top) a 3.75-inch lightsaber-equipped action figure ($8.99), a 12-inch figure ($7.99) — both available now — and a Nerf blaster based on Rey’s weapon ($19.99), due this spring.

Have the toy makers heard the complaints? After a year seemingly bereft of female hero action figures from blockbuster films, 2016 is bringing a welcome change. As showcased over the holiday weekend at the North American International Toy Fair in New York, there will be a slew of female characters alongside their male counterparts on store shelves in the coming months from such films as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War, and Ghostbusters.
