A new restaurant plans to move into the Coltrane’s Char Grill location

A day after Coaltrane’s Char Grill announced it was closing its doors at the end of business, National Restaurant Properties announced that a new restaurant is moving in: Que Onda Tacos + Tequila.

“Que Onda will be taking over the Coaltrane’s Central Avenue location in CLT’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood, a Wednesday email from the commercial real estate group said.

The restaurant plans to open for service at what will be its fifth location by Thanksgiving. The growing local chain is owned by Manny Flores, who is also opening Que Fresa Taqueria + Bar this week in Wesley Heights. The new concept for the Que Fresa brand was inspired by his wife, Paula.

Que Onda is a full-service Mexican restaurant, with offerings including tacos and tortas, enchiladas, burritos and even Boozy Mexican Brunch.
