Residents Flee Colfax as River Fire Grows to 1,400 Acres

California’s fast-growing River Fire spread to 1,400 acres near Colfax, California, on Wednesday, August 4, as the state’s northeastern region remained under a red flag warning for critical fire weather.

Evacuation orders were issued for areas in Nevada and Placer Counties — including the city of Colfax — that were threatened by the fire on Wednesday.
