Residents Evacuate During Three-Alarm Park Fire in Carlsbad, California

A “small but complex” park fire burned in Carlsbad, California, on Wednesday, January 20, forcing some residents to evacuate, according to city officials.

Footage shared by landscape photographer Steve Deck shows firefighters extinguishing flames that were engulfing roadside brushes. “Burning, dead fronds on palms in backyards were catching fire and falling into yards starting more fires,” Deck wrote in a Facebook caption.

More than 200 homes were evacuated, no structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported, the City of Carlsbad said. Residents were allowed to return home as of 6 pm on Wednesday, they said. Credit: Steve Deck via Storyful
