Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Casemiro.

The deal‘s completion is subject to personal terms being agreed, UK visa requirements and a medical, but the Brazilian is expected to wrap up the move in the coming days after undergoing a medical this weekend.

Casemiro is set to join for an inital £60m fee, with an additional £10m in add-ons, and sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option to extend for a further season.

It’s a much-needed boost for United, who have spent much of the summer chasing Frenkie de Jong but now have a midfield signing that Erik ten Hag has desperately been pushing for.

“We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford,” a statement from Manchester United said.

The 30-year-old won five Champions Leagues while at Real, as well as three La Liga titles, in an incredibly successful nine years in Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti had already confirmed that Casemiro wanted to leave, and Real paid tribute to the midfielder in a glowing tribute.

“Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to Casemiro, who is part of the club’s history,” the Spanish club said in a statement.

“In addition to a brilliant list of achievements, Casemiro will always be remembered by the madridistas as representing the values of our club. An exemplary player who has given his all for Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid is and always will be his home, and we wish him and all his family the best of luck in this new chapter of his life.”

A farewell ceremony will take place in Madrid on Monday, before Casemiro addresses the Spanish press.
