The 2021 Oscars are upon us, and with them the sudden realization that I've seen so few of the entries on the list this year. If you're anything like me and you constantly scramble during award season to figure out how to watch the best films of the year (for me it's Minari, please someone where can I find Minari), you're in luck.
How to watch the 2021 Oscars: Everything you should know about Sunday's Academy Awards
The 93rd Academy Awards are streaming on Sunday, April 25th, on ABC, and there are some extremely gorgeous, unique movies among the nominees this year. We've roped together all the places that you can stream this year's Academy Award nominees.
1. Sound of Metal
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Riz Ahmed), Actor in a Supporting Role (Paul Raci), Sound, Film Editing, Writing (Original Screenplay)

Sound of Metal is up for several Academy Awards this year, and star Riz Ahmed is also up for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Ruben Stone, a metal drummer who's been losing his hearing. The film follows Ruben as he attempts to reconcile his fading hearing with his desire to perform music and his commitment to his bandmate and partner, Lou (Olivia Cooke).
2. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Chadwick Boseman), Actress in a Leading Role (Viola Davis), Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Production Design
Streaming on: Netflix
Chadwick Boseman is nominated for a posthumous Oscar for his performance as Levee Green in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, a drama film adaptation of the play "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" by August Wilson. The story is centered around 1920s blues singer Ma Rainey, played by Viola Davis, and a turbulent period in her recording career. Produced by Denzel Washington as part of a deal to produce nine of August Wilson's plays, the film is nominated in several categories. Davis and Boseman both took home Golden Globes for their performances in the film. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom was Boseman's final film appearance.
3. The Father
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Anthony Hopkins), Actress in a Supporting Role (Olivia Colman), Film Editing, Production Design, Writing (Adapted Screenplay)

Directed by Florian Zeller, The Father is currently airing in theaters as well as on Amazon Prime Video (for a rental fee), and features Anthony Hopkins as Anthony, an elderly Londoner dealing with dementia. Olivia Colman also stars in the film as Hopkins' daughter Anne, who struggles to find caretakers for her father.
4. Mank
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Gary Oldman), Actress in a Supporting Role (Amanda Seyfried), Cinematography, Costume Design, Directing, Music (Original Score), Makeup and Hairstyling, Production Design, Sound
Streaming on: Netflix
Directed by David Fincher, Mank follows the story of Hollywood screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) as he races to finish the screenplay for Citizen Kane. The black and white film also stars Amanda Seyfried as Marion Davies, Lily Collins as Rita Alexander, Tuppence Middleton as Sara Mankiewicz, and more. The film has the most Academy Award nominations this year, so keep an eye on it when the Oscars air.
5. Minari
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Steven Yeun), Actress in a Supporting Role (Yuh-Jung Youn), Directing, Music (Original Score), Writing (Original Screenplay)

A24 film Minari features the saga of a Korean family who move from California to Arkansas in 1983 to live out the American Dream, and the complications and expectations they experience within that journey. Steven Yeun stars as Jacob, a farmer who hopes to sell Korean produce to new markets, and Yuh-Jung Youn also features as Soon-ja, Jacob's mother-in-law who comes from Korea to stay with them and take care of the children. Both Yeun and Youn are nominated for their performances in the film.
6. The Trial of the Chicago 7
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Supporting Role (Sacha Baron Cohen), Cinematography, Film Editing, Music (Original Song), Writing (Original Screenplay)
Streaming on: Netflix
The Trial of the Chicago 7, directed by Aaron Sorkin and starring Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Jeremy Strong, Michael Keaton, Sacha Baron Cohen, and more, follows the story of the Chicago 7, anti-Vietnam War protestors who were charged with several crimes related to inciting violence during protests. The film is nominated in several categories, including Best Original Song for "Hear My Voice."
7. Judas and the Black Messiah
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actor in a Supporting Role (Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield), Cinematography, Music (Original Song), Writing (Original Screenplay)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video for $19.99
Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya star in Judas and the Black Messiah, a biographical drama about the betrayal of Illinois Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton (Kaluuya) by FBI informant William O'Neal (Stanfield). The film is directed by Shaka King and has garnered significant critical praise since its release in February of 2021.
8. One Night in Miami...
Nominated for: Actor in a Supporting Role (Leslie Odom Jr.), Music (Original Song), Writing (Adapted Screenplay)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
Directed by Regina King, One Night in Miami... is a fictionalized retelling of an evening in 1964 where Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke all met up in Miami after a fight between Ali and Sonny Liston to discuss the Civil Rights Movement. Leslie Odom Jr. is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Sam Cooke.
9. The United States vs. Billie Holiday
Nominated for: Actress in a Leading Role (Andra Day)
Streaming on: Hulu
The United States vs. Billie Holiday depicts the battle between Billie Holiday and the U.S. government over Holiday's song "Strange Fruit," which references racism and lynching in the South. Lee Daniels directed the film, and Andra Day was nominated for Best Actress for her role as Billie Holiday.
10. Pieces of a Woman
Nominated for: Actress in a Leading Role (Vanessa Kirby)
Streaming on: Netflix
Vanessa Kirby stars as Martha Weiss in this gut-wrenching film about a traumatic home birth that has lasting repercussions for Martha and her husband, Sean (Shia LaBeouf).
11. Nomadland
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Frances McDormand), Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Writing (Adapted Screenplay)
Streaming on: Hulu
Frances McDormand has been lauded for her performance in Nomadland since the film's release, and if you haven't already caught the film now is the time. Nomadland features the story of a woman who takes to a nomadic existence in a van after she loses everything. Not only is the film nominated for Best Picture, it also garnered nominations in Cinematography, Editing, and more.
12. Promising Young Woman
Nominated for: Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Carey Mulligan), Directing, Film Editing, Writing (Original Screenplay)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video for $5.99
Carey Mulligan stars in Promising Young Woman alongside Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Jennifer Coolidge, and more. The film centers on the story of Cassie, a young woman working to avenge her friend's rape by exposing the individuals involved. Margot Robbie produced the film, which was written and directed by Emerald Fennell.
13. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

The second Borat film features Sacha Baron Cohen in another mockumentary adventure as Borat resurfaces after several years spent in prison in Kazakhstan. The film references and features current events like the Trump presidency, COVID-19, and more. The film also gained attention when footage from the film featured Rudy Giuliani demonstrating inappropriate behavior with Maria Bakalova.
14. Hillbilly Elegy
Nominated for: Actress in a Supporting Role (Glenn Close), Makeup and Hairstyling
Streaming on: Netflix
An adaptation of the novel of the same name by JD Vance, Hillbilly Elegy features Glenn Close and Amy Adams in the story of a Yale Law student who returns to his hometown in Ohio and reconciles his new life with his past and that of his family.
15. Onward
Nominated for: Animated Feature Film
Streaming on: Disney+
Tom Holland and Chris Pratt star in Pixar Animation Studios' _ Onward_, the story of Ian and Barley Lightfoot (Holland and Pratt, respectively) in a land of magic and mystery as they find a gift from their father that will allow them to connect with him one last time.
16. Over the Moon
Nominated for: Animated Feature Film
Streaming on: Netflix
Come for the gorgeous visuals, stay for the music and Philippa Soo. Over the Moon is a beautiful film that follows the story of Fei Fei, a young girl who deals with the loss of her mother through an obsession with the story of the moon goddess, Chang'e, that causes her to build a rocket that will take her to the moon. Ken Jeong, Margaret Cho, and Sandra Oh also star in the film.
17. A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon
Nominated for: Animated Feature Film
Streaming on: Netflix
Shaun the Sheep has been a childhood staple for years, and the newest installment in the Shaun the Sheep franchise, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, features everyone's favorite stop-motion sheep in a brand new adventure.
18. Soul
Nominated for: Animated Feature Film, Music (Original Score), Sound
Streaming on: Disney+
Soul will make you cry. The film features an all-star cast including Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, and more, and follows the story of Joe Gardner, a music teacher and performer whose untimely death teaches him how to enjoy and appreciate his life in full, rather than waiting for his life to start.
19. Wolfwalkers
Nominated for: Animated Feature Film
Streaming on: Apple TV+
From Tom Moore, director of Song of the Sea (watch it if you haven't already), comes Wolfwalkers, an animated story about a girl named Robyn Goodfellowe who discovers a girl named Mebh who can transform into a wolf while she sleeps. Wolfwalkers has ridiculously gorgeous animation and storytelling, and features beautiful music including "Running with the Wolves" by AURORA.
20. News of the World
Nominated for: Cinematography, Music (Original Score), Production Design, Sound
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video for $5.99
News of the World stars Tom Hanks as Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd as he transports a child across the American Southwest. The film was directed by Paul Greengrass and garnered critical approval for Hanks' performance.
21. Emma
Nominated for: Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling
Streaming on: HBO Max
Watching Emma once was enough for me to know that the film would get nominated for costume design. The clothes are absolutely gorgeous, and if you're a Jane Austen fan you'll love the modern take on Emma's classic story and Anya Taylor-Joy's wonderful portrayal of the character.
22. Mulan
Nominated for: Costume Design, Visual Effects

The much-anticipated live-action Walt Disney Pictures Mulan came out earlier this year, and functions as a new take on the classic story "The Ballad of Mulan," rather than serving as a live-action remake of the animated film. The film stars Liu Yifei as Mulan, Jet Li as the Emperor, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, and more.
23. Pinocchio
Nominated for: Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video for $5.99
Directed by Matteo Garrone, Italian fantasy film Pinocchio is nominated in the Costume Design and Makeup and Hairstyling categories. The film's trailer hints at the exquisite beauty of the adaptation of the classic story of the puppet who wanted to be a boy, and you can catch the subtitled version of the film on Amazon Prime.
24. Another Round

Mads Mikkelson stars in this delightful Danish drama film about four teachers that decide to test their ability to stay constantly inebriated. Director Thomas Vinterberg is in the running for the Best Directing award for his work on the film.

Directed, produced, and written by Alexander Nanau, Collective is a Romanian documentary film that features a team of journalists who work to uncover public healthcare fraud within Romania's health system.
26. Crip Camp
Nominated for: Documentary (Feature)
Streaming on: Netflix
Crip Camp is a documentary about a summer camp in New York for disabled individuals called Camp Jened that brought together some of the activists for the disability rights movement in their youth. The film stars Larry Allison, Judith Heumann, James LeBrecht, Denise Sherer Jacboson, and Stephen Hofmann.
27. The Mole Agent
Nominated for: Documentary (Feature)
Streaming on: Hulu
Directed by Maite Alberdi, The Mole Agent follows an 83-year-old Chilean man who goes undercover as a resident in a nursing home to see if he can root out signs of abuse. The film was entered for the Best International Film for Chile.
28. My Octopus Teacher
Nominated for: Documentary (Feature)
Streaming on: Netflix
My Octopus Teacher did make me sob, and you could experience all the ups and downs of filmmaker Craig Foster's encounters and relationship with an octopus in False Bay, South Africa, for yourself. My Octopus Teacher was filmed over the course of a year spent diving and visiting an octopus and learning more about her life and habits in her natural environment.
29. Time
Nominated for: Documentary (Feature)

Time explores the difficulties of love in the landscape of incarceration, following the story of Fox Rich and Rob Rich as they navigate Rob's imprisonment at the Louisiana State Penitentiary and the endurance of their love across two decades.
30. Better Days

Dramatic thriller Better Days is nominated for Best International Feature Film this year. The film features the story of Nian, a student who experiences bullying from her peers as she prepares for exams at her school. Through a series of events, she meets Bei, and they become involved with an investigation that changes the course of their lives.
31. The Man Who Sold His Skin

Also nominated in the International Feature Film category is The Man Who Sold His Skin, which features main character Sam as he decides to sell his back to a tattoo artist, becoming a living piece of art. The film follows Sam's journey as he comes to understand that the deal he made isn't as easy as it originally seemed.
32. Quo Vadis, Aida?
Nominated for: International Feature Film
Streaming on: Hulu
Directed by Jasmila Zbanic, Quo Vadis, Aida? takes place in Bosnia in 1995, where Aida is a translator for the UN in a small Serbian town. Interactions with the Serbian army lead to Aida becoming part of a large group of displaced citizens living in a UN camp.
33. Da 5 Bloods

Directed by Spike Lee, Da 5 Bloods follows a group of African American war veterans who return to Vietnam post-war to find their leader's remains. The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, and more.

Admittedly, I have listened to "Husavik" so many times since watching Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, and the Academy agrees that the song is fantastic. If you need a lighthearted gander into the glitz and glam of the Eurovision Song Contest featuring actual Eurovision stars alongside Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, this is the film for you.
36. Tenet

Much-anticipated Christopher Nolan film Tenet arrived on the scene in 2020 and featured John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki in a genre-bending spy tale that blends action and adventure with time-traveling madness.

Tom Hanks stars in the film Greyhound, a WWII story inspired by a real-life mission across the Atlantic to deliver soldiers and supplies to Allied forces.
38. Love and Monsters

Love and Monsters stars Dylan O'Brien in a dystopian future ruled by giant monsters. After Joel (O'Brien) reconnects with his high school girlfriend via radio, he makes a dangerous trip out to find her.

George Clooney and Felicity Jones star in this futuristic drama about a scientist in the Arctic who is forced to warn astronauts away from returning to Earth after a large-scale catastrophe takes place.

Directed and produced by Ramin Bahrani, and starring Priyanka Chopra, The White Tiger follows the story of an ambitious driver who starts to change his fortune. The film is based on the bestselling novel of the same name.

Directed by Anthony Giacchino and co-produced by Oculus and Respawn Entertainment, "Colette" is the first film produced by a game studio to be nominated for an Academy Award and follows former French Resistance member Colette as she travels back to Germany after 74 years away.

"Two Distant Strangers" follows the story of a young man who gets stuck in a time loop that forces him to relive a violent run-in with a cop that results in his death. The short film stars Joey Bada$$, Andrew Howard, and Zaria.
56. "White Eye"

Israeli short film "White Eye" details the story of a man who loses his bike and attempts to get it back in a stunning narrative by Tomer Shushan. Daniel Gad stars in the film along with Dawit Tekelaeb.
