Reacher star Willa Fitzgerald had a "rare feeling" filming Strange Darling
Strange Darling finally arrives in UK cinemas this week, meaning UK audiences can experience the best thriller of the year.
The critically-acclaimed movie – which debuted to 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and still holds an impressive 94% rating – is a cat-and-mouse thriller unlike any you've seen before as a woman is tracked through the US wilderness by an unstoppable beast.
Talking to Digital Spy, Willa Fitzgerald reflected on filming Strange Darling and how she – and the rest of the cast and crew – always knew they had something special despite being an "incredibly hard shoot".
"I think all of us would agree that even though it was so hard, it was also one of those jobs where you leave work every day and you're like, 'Woah, we did something that was actually exceptional in some way'," she recalled.

"I think that's a rare feeling to get and it was what kept us all moving forward in a shoot that was so hard with the elements, being outside all the time, having tight hours because it was all [filmed in] daylight.
"There was a lot of things that were running up against, but I think we were all propelled forward by wanting to tell this story."
Crucial to the success of Strange Darling is the chemistry between Fitzgerald and her co-lead Kyle Gallner with the duo playing the Lady and the Beast, respectively.
It sees them play out some intense sequences from a sexual encounter in a hotel to an intense chase sequence. But what makes the scenes work so well is that the two had built up a shared understanding before filming.

"I love Kyle so much. We had about a week before we started shooting and we had a lunch together before we even started shooting because I just wanted to get to know him a little bit," Fitzgerald explained.
"I think we both put a lot of like time and energy into developing an interpersonal relationship off-set so that on-set, we just had an implicit understanding and an ability to just move through the crazy world that is Strange Darling.
"[We knew] we had each other's backs the whole time. We shot some of the most intense stuff at the very beginning of the shoot, actually, and so I think once we got through [those scenes], it gave us this whole foundation where we sprang off from into crazy territory."
Strange Darling is released in UK cinemas on September 20, and is still out in select US cinemas.
