Ratings: NBC Wins Wednesday With Jesse Spencer’s ‘Chicago Fire’ Exit

NBC won Wednesday, the night Jesse Spencer’s Captain Matthew Casey exited “Chicago Fire.” The network finished first in both the key 18-49 ratings demo and in terms of total viewers.

Spencer paid tribute to his time on the show by posting a farewell video to social media that featured tons of behind-the-scenes footage of him and his co-stars, as well as Spencer himself singing a song about leaving the show. Watch that here.

NBC was first in ratings with a 0.7 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 6.4 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Chicago Med” at 8 p.m. put up a 0.7 rating and 6.5 million total viewers. At 9, “Chicago Fire” posted a 0.8 rating and 7.1 million total viewers. “Chicago P.D.” at 10 landed a 0.6 rating and 5.4 million.

CBS and Fox tied for was second in ratings, both with a 0.6. CBS was second in total viewers with 3.9 million, Fox was third with 3.2 million.

For CBS, “Survivor” at 8 earned a 1.0 rating and 5.4 million total viewers. “Tough as Nails” at 9 had a 0.4 rating and 2.8 million total viewers. At 10, “CSI: Vegas” got a 0.3 rating and 3.4 million total viewers.

For Fox, “The Masked Singer” at 8 scored a 0.9 rating and 4.2 million total viewers. “Alter Ego” at 9 had a 0.4 rating and 2.2 million total viewers.

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 0.3 and in total viewers with 1.9 million. “The Goldbergs” at 8 received a 0.5 rating and 2.8 million total viewers. “The Wonder Years” at 8:30 got a 0.4 rating and 2 million total viewers. Following a rerun, “Home Economics” at 9:30 had a 0.3 rating and 1.6 million viewers. At 10, a “Superstar” episode about Robin Williams closed out primetime with a 0.3 rating and 1.7 million total viewers.

The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.1 and in total viewers with 514,000. “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” at 8 had a 0.1 rating and 541,000 total viewers. At 9, “Batwoman” got a 0.1 rating and 487,000 total viewers.
