Report: Raptors agree to multi-year contracts with Chris Boucher, Thaddeus Young

The Toronto Raptors took care of a couple pieces of business as NBA free agency opened on Thursday, reportedly agreeing to deals with Chris Boucher and Thaddeus Young.

Boucher will ink a three-year, $35.25 million contract, while Thaddeus Young returns to Toronto on a two-year, $16 million pact.

Boucher, 29, has spent the past four seasons with the Raptors and has taken on a larger role in his past two campaigns. The forward is coming off a 2021-22 season in which he averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 80 contests (nine starts).

The Montreal product didn't shoot well from beyond the arc last season, but owns a career three-point percentage of 33.5%. He is able to impact a game with his length and energy on both ends of the floor.

Young joined the Raptors ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline and added another veteran voice to the locker room. The 33-year-old appeared in 26 games down the stretch for the Raptors, averaging 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Even though the statistics appear modest, the Raptors raved about what Young brought to the team. The front office tried to acquire him multiple times before finally landing him in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs.

Young seemed to enjoy his time north of the border, as the New Orleans native praised the way the franchise is run and was blown away by the talent on the team.

“This organization is elite," Young told TSN's Josh Lewenberg in April. "One of the top I’ve ever been a part of… I loved everything about this experience. As far as the team, the sky is the limit… This team can be really, really scary.

Toronto is coming off a season in which it exceeded expectations and finished as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 48-34 record. The Raptors pushed the Philadelphia 76ers to six games in the first round of the playoffs before bowing out.
