Rapper found shot dead in planter, leaving behind 3 kids and pregnant wife, CA cops say

A 32-year-old rapper from Inglewood was found fatally shot in a planter outside an apartment, police and multiple news outlets reported.

Latauriisha O’Brien, known as Half Ounce, was shot multiple times around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3 in Koreatown as he was walking home with a friend, the Los Angeles Police Department said and KTTV reported.

The shooter fled from the scene in a dark SUV, police said.

O’Brien was pronounced dead by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics when they found him, police said.

The rapper and father of three was on the phone with his pregnant wife when he was shot, KTTV reported.

He had an 8-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son and 9-month-old son, according to a GoFundMe page that was created to go toward his funeral expenses and his children.

“He loved his family and kids so much! He changed his life around and was going to school and was working at UPS. He had a big heart and would do anything for his family and friends,” the fundraising page said.

O’Brien is the third rapper who was killed in Los Angeles County within a month, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Inglewood is about 15 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
