Like a lot of people, Trent Brown is intrigued by the thought of Tom Brady signing with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Unlike most other people, Brown is a member of the Raiders and in charge of blocking for Derek Carr.
Brown, who set a record for largest contract for an offensive linemen when he signed with the Raiders last March, told Bill Williamson of SilverAndBlackPride.com that he’d love to reunite with Brady.
It’s just a little unusual to say it when the Raiders already have a quarterback.
Trent Brown would welcome Tom Brady reunion
Brown was asked by Williamson about Raiders’ moves in free agency, and he said, “You know who I’m talking about.” Brown laughed when asked if he was referring to Brady, and Brown said he was.
Brown played with Brady in 2018, winning a Super Bowl together as teammates on the Patriots. He would welcome playing with Brady again.
“Who wouldn’t?” Brown told Williamson. “He’s the greatest quarterback of all time.”
Brown added that he meant no disrespect, presumably referring to Carr. And it’s not like Brown is the only one to wonder if Las Vegas will be Brady’s next home.
Could Raiders make a move for Brady?
The Raiders have been mentioned often as a front-runner in the Brady sweepstakes, which could start next week if the NFL doesn’t postpone the start of free agency.
The Raiders have been tied to just about every off-the-wall idea in the NFL since Jon Gruden was hired as coach. The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas next season and don’t have a big star on the roster, though the Raiders will sell out no matter who is on the roster in a new NFL market.
Another reason the Raiders are tied to Brady is that Carr’s future with the team has been a topic of conversation since Gruden came aboard. If the Raiders want to move on from Carr they need a replacement, and the six-time Super Bowl champion Brady would be a big splash.
Stay tuned for what happens next. Brown will be among the interested observers.
