Quentin Tarantino Is Livid With Disney Over Star Wars Release

Quentin Tarantino is downright furious with Disney. The famed director believes that the studio have gone out of their way to stop him screening his latest release ‘The Hateful Eight’ in one of Los Angeles’ most famous cinemas.

Tarantino wants to screen his eighth film at the Cinerama Dome on Sunset Boulevard. However he won’t be able to because Disney have already booked to screen ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ there for the entire holiday season.

The ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Reservoir Dogs’, and ‘Django Unchained’ director believes that this is a travesty since the Cinerama Dome is arguably America’s most famous 70mm premiere venue, and Tarantino shot ‘The Hateful Eight’ specifically on 70mm.

Tarantino didn’t bite his tongue when the topic arose during his appearance on Howard Stern’s Sirius Radio Show, as he erupted, “It was real bad news and it f****** p***** me off. They are going out of their way to f*** me.”

According to Tarantino, when Arclight, the owner of Cinerama Dome, informed Disney that they were going to screen ‘The Hateful Eight’ there on Christmas Day the studio then threatened to pull J.J. Abrams’ film from the chain completely. Tarantino called this a “mean” and “vindictive” move that was the equivalent to “extortion.”

Tarantino made it clear that he isn’t angry with J.J. Abrams or any of the “’Star Wars’ people,” just the Disney Corporation.

‘The Force Awakens’ was originally only scheduled to play in the Cinerama Dome until Christmas Eve, with ‘The Hateful Eight’ taking over on Christmas Day. Instead, The Force Awakens’ run has been extended.

For those of you that plan on watching these films in Britain, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is finally in cinemas now, while ‘The Hateful Eight’ will be released on January 8.
