If you have a penchant for corgis and feel comfortable creating content for millions of people to see, there's a role at Buckingham Palace that might be perfect for you. That's because the Queen is looking for a Senior Digital Communications Officer to run her social media platforms and to help "maintain the Queen's presence on the world's stage."
The role, advertised by the Royal Household, includes "creating a daily news flow" on the Queen's social media platforms, attending and covering royal events, as well as planning, filming and editing videos. There is some research and feature writing involved, too.
A degree is preferable - but not expected - and the applicant must have experience managing social media platforms at a high-profile level. Having a good eye for photography is essential, and it helps to be skilled at video production. "This is your opportunity to use your digital expertise to deliver the exceptional," reads the application.
Sounds fun, right? The lucky recruit will work on a fixed term contract (£38,000 per annum depending on experience) for a year, covering a maternity leave.
It's a highly esteemed job, especially when the royals are so hot on social media already. The family always share photographs to mark royal occasions, events and historic moments. The royals never fail to mark their birthdays either.
Recently, the royal tributes poured in for Prince George's eighth birthday, including an Instagram story of the young prince from Prince Charles and his wife Camilla's account (@clarencehouse) which read "A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PRINCE GEORGE!", along with a red balloon emoji.' The Queen's official account also uploaded an Instagram story using a fun birthday-themed gif. (Yes, the Queen uses gifs.)
The Duchess of Cambridge is in particular an Instagram whiz, partly because of her talent for taking exceptional photographs. Over the years, Kate Middleton has snapped a number of adorable photographs of her husband Prince William and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, which then appear on her and Prince William's official account: @dukeandduchessofcambridge. Her particular skill is capturing her children in nature or when they are laughing off guard, and it's such a joy to see.
If you fancy giving the Duchess of Cambridge a run for her money, we suggest you apply...
