Considering Pier-Olivier Lacombe is just 19, it’s a little too early to say what his hockey career will entail. We can be certain that his name is going down in the history books, though.

On Monday night, Lacombe played in a game where he represented both the Quebec Remparts and the Gatineau Olympiques. It was the first such case in QMJHL history.

That sounds like he laced ’em up for Gatineau in the first, quit on the team and jumped over to the other bench. Another scenario that comes to mind is some kind of intricate mid-game swap agreed upon by coaches and general managers during an intermission.

Unfortunately, what happened was far more mundane. The game actually started on Nov. 4, but was suspended due to a power failure. Between that date and when the two clubs picked it up again Lacombe was traded from the Olympics to the Remparts. So he played for both teams technically in the same game, but certainly not on the same night.

Nonetheless, Lacombe gets to be a little footnote in the record books.
