Ptarmigan Fire Grows Overnight in Colorado's Rocky Mountains

Evacuation orders were issued for about 300 homes near Silverthorne, Colorado, as the Ptarmigan wildfire burned on Monday, September 27, according to local reports.

This footage shows smoke rising from the fire on Ptarmigan Mountain, as seen from Frisco Bay Marina in Silverthorne, Colorado. As of September 28, the fire was 40 acres.

Air resources and firefighters on the ground from the Forest Service are expected to be on the scene by Tuesday, September 28, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office,
