Property owner discovers mysterious human remains in his Colorado field, deputies say

A property owner discovered mysterious human remains in his field, Colorado deputies said.

The man called authorities Sunday, Sept. 25, after he found what he thought were human bones on his Avondale property, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said.

“After it was determined the remains were that of a human, detectives were called out and took over the investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a Sept. 28 news release.

Detectives said they do not know how the person died or how the remains ended up in the field.

“Further information regarding the gender, identity and manner and cause of death will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office pending autopsy results,” deputies said.

Officials do not think there is any threat to the public.

“If you saw anything suspicious in the area or know anything about the incident, please call the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office at (719) 583-6250,” deputies said.

Avondale is about 130 miles south of Denver.
