Prominent Sacramento criminal attorney Donald Heller dies

Family and friends are mourning the loss of prominent Sacramento criminal attorney Donald Heller, who died Wednesday at the age of 79. He's perhaps best known for authoring the 1978 ballot measure that expanded the types of offenses for which the death penalty could be imposed. Heller later actively opposed the death penalty.
