As the first three episodes of Harry and Meghan’s long-awaited Netflix series Harry & Meghan are released, much has been revealed about how the couple met, how they feel about racism in the UK, and their responses to claims that the pair “destroyed” the royal family.

The third episode turns to the Duke of Sussex's reflections on his late mother, Princess Diana. Fondly recalling her "cheeky" personality and smiley demeanour, Prince Harry shares what he *really* thinks Diana would have thought about his wife. *Warning: spoilers ahead*

As the couple sit on a sofa holding hands during an interview, Harry is asked: “What do you think your mother would have thought of Meghan or said about Meghan?”

To which the Duke responds: "At least they'd be thick as thieves, without question.

“I think she [Diana] would be jumping up and down and be so excited for me. As I said, they [Diana and Meghan] would have probably been best friends. I’m sure she’s with us, jumping up and down somewhere else.”

Meghan jumps in to add: “She’s with us.”

The couple, who have been together since 2016, got engaged in November 2017, with Harry proposing using a ring that incorporated two of Diana’s diamonds.

In the documentary, Harry explains the process he went through while designing it. "The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana,” he says. “And the [two] little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection – to make sure she is with us on this crazy journey together."

As well as sharing his love for his mother, Harry reveals in episode one of the docu-series that Diana and Meghan share similar qualities that he admires.

"So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum," the Duke says while facing the camera. "She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."

He adds: "I accept that there will be people around the world who fundamentally disagree with what I've done [breaking away from the Royal Family] and how I've done it, but I knew I had to do everything I could to protect my family, I didn't want history to repeat itself."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s series is set to be watched by millions of people, releasing three out of six episodes today (8 December).

The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan are available on Netflix now, with volume two set to drop next week.
