Yahoo Movies Prince Harry is officially back in the UK
For the first time since Prince Philip's funeral back in April, and since becoming a father for the second time to baby Lilibet, Prince Harry has arrived back in the UK for a very special occasion. Both Harry and his brother, Prince William, will be in attendance for an unveiling of a statue dedicated to their mother, Princess Diana, next Thursday – on what would have been her 60th birthday.
The Prince has arrived ahead of schedule as he will likely need to quarantine before the event.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Harry and William commissioned the statue together, and many are hoping that coming together to remember their mother could be a way for the pair to reconcile. Earlier this year, while giving a tell-all interview to Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry described his current relationship with his brother as being one of giving each other 'space'.
It's said that because of COVID-19 restrictions, the two brothers have scaled back the unveiling event somewhat and are now having a more intimate affair, with just themselves, close family (it's expected that Kate Middleton will be in attendance) and some of Diana's relatives. A follow-up event it slated to take place in September with more guests in attendance, such as former staffers and supporters of Diana.
Plans for the statue to be unveiled have been in the works for some time now, with it originally due to be displayed over four years ago. However, it sounds as though there was a lot of back and forth over the design, as well as which era of Princess Diana's life it ought to represent.
"The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother's life and her legacy," Kensington Palace previously said about the poignant installation.
Prince Harry recently became a father again, to a daughter named Lilibet (in honour of The Queen), who is remaining at home in California along with Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, and their young son, Archie.
This will be the second time the Duchess of Sussex misses out on a trip to London, where she previously lived for two-and-a-half years, due to completely understandable pregnancy and post-partum reasons. In April, when Meghan was almost eight months pregnant, Harry flew back to the UK to attend his grandfather, Prince Philip's funeral. Upon doctor's orders (because it's not safe to fly so far into a pregnancy) the Duchess remained in America.
