Yahoo Movies Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Returning To The UK Next Month
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will visit the UK next month for the first time since they attended the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed their upcoming visit and said that it will be in aid of charity.
Detailing the reason for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's trip, the spokesperson continued, noting that the parents-of-two will also visit Germany as part of the visit to support 'several charities close to their hearts'.
They will visit Manchester for the One Young World Summit, a global forum for young leaders, which sees over 2,000 people, from more than 190 countries and across myriad industries, strategise innovative solutions to key issues.
The summit will take place at the Manchester Central conference centre from September 5-8, with the opening ceremony held at renowned concert venue Bridgewater Hall.
Speeches, panels, workshops and networking sessions will be held at the event.
Markle serves as a counsellor for the organisation, alongside the likes of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, and TV chef Jamie Oliver.
The royal couple will then head to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event, before returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards on September 8.
The pair kept a low profile at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this summer, where they were joined by their son Archie, three, and daughter Lilibet, one.
When announcing their decision in 2020 to be step back as senior royals and opt for financial independence, they shared a joint statement that read: 'After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
'We intend to step back as "senior" members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.
'We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
'We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, the Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.'
In February, The Archewell founders, who live in Montecito, California, received the prestigious President’s Award at The NAACP Image Awards in recognition of their special achievement and public service.
Previous winners include Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, LeBron James, and Rihanna.
