It's been a busy month for the Royal Family, who kicked June off with a four day weekend to celebrate the Queen's record-breaking Platinum Jubilee followed by Prince William turning 40 years old a few weeks later. And that's not all, as the Platinum Jubilee also marked the first time that the Sussex family – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana – returned to the UK as a foursome. Their visit meant that Lilibet got to meet her royal relatives for the first time, with one encounter proving to be "very emotional".

Speaking of Prince Charles' first meeting with his granddaughter Lilibet, a royal source revealed to the BBC that the future King was delighted to finally see the new addition, who was born in June 2021. In fact, the insider described Prince Charles as having been "absolutely thrilled" to meet the little royal – which is pretty understandable, tbh.

"He hadn't met Lili, his granddaughter, and so to meet her was very emotional, a very, very wonderful thing," the source said, adding that both he and wife Camilla Parker Bowles were keen to welcome the whole Sussex family back to the UK. "The Prince and the Duchess were absolutely thrilled to see them," the insider pointed out. "It was fantastic to see them. It was wonderful to have them back in Britain."

How long Charles and baby Lilibet spent together isn't clear, although we do know that her first meeting with the Queen was quite brief, albeit sweet. "She was working very hard to maintain her strength," royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti told US Weekly of the Queen's health over the Platinum Jubilee weekend. "I think it’s totally understandable that she was saving her energy as best she could for all the events that she wanted to be at if she possibly could."

Sacerdoti continued: "We’re talking about someone in their nineties and a baby. We saw that she did manage to appear several times in public, and that’s great."

During their visit to the UK, Harry and Meghan attended a thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral (although they did not sit with other senior working royals, such as Prince William and Kate Middleton). The pair sadly didn't appear at any other public Jubilee celebrations, although they hosted a low-key birthday party for Lilibet at Frogmore Cottage. Cute!
