According to The Washington Post, the video captures 8-year-old Jackson Champagne’s harrowing Halloween experience: an empty candy bowl.
Instead of walking away empty-handed — or worse, subjecting other trick-or-treaters to the same fate — the young boy reaches into his own candy bag and restocks some of the candy for the next kids.
The Hodges family, whose porch camera recorded the viral moment, explained that they put out a candy bowl so that Leslie Hodges could take their 3-year-old daughter trick-or-treating, as her firefighter husband was on duty that night.
The Washington Post reported that Hodges’ husband sent her the video of Jackson and said, “You won’t believe this.”
“He renewed the faith that there are still some good people out there,” Hodges said.
“He’s a very sweet, kind and soft-spoken kid. I’ve never seen a moment where he acts out negatively toward humanity.”
