Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Jan. 30)
Several of Miami-Dade County’s top athletes kept delivering clutch performances in multiple winter sports this past week.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Feb. 2, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Cameron Boozer, Columbus, boys’ basketball: Boozer combined for 73 points in three games to lead the Explorers to their second consecutive GMAC championship. Boozer also combined for 31 rebounds, 11 assists and nine steals over the first two games.
▪ Daniel Ribeiro, Ransom Everglades, boys’ basketball: Ribeiro scored a school-record 53 points in a win over Downtown Doral.
▪ Joelle Wilson, Miami High, girls’ basketball: Wilson had a game-high 18 points and over 10 rebounds to lead the Stingarees to their second consecutive GMAC championship.
▪ Jasen ‘J-Roc’ Lopez, True North, boys’ basketball: Lopez scored 46 points and had eight rebounds, six steals, five assists and two blocks in a win over Chaminade-Madonna.
▪ Helena Macedo, Coral Gables, girls’ soccer: Macedo scored the game-winning goal for the Cavaliers in a 1-0 win over rival Miami High in the District 15-7A semifinals.
