Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Nov. 27)

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

We’re down to the final four in football and the winter sports season is underway completely with wrestling beginning this week.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Dec. 1, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

J-Roc Lopez, True North, football: Lopez caught nine passes for 208 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Titans to a 58-37 win over Palmer Trinity and its first-ever berth in the state semifinals.

Joshua Townsend, Homestead, football: Townsend ran for three touchdowns and 80 yards overall while throwing for over 100 to lead the Broncos to a 33-13 win over Miramar and their first state semifinal berth since 1984.

Gabriella Paredes, Lourdes, girls’ soccer: Paredes recorded a shutout for the Bobcats as they shut down state powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas 2-0 last week.

Aden Davenport, Palmer Trinity, football: Davenport followed up last week’s impressive outing with an even better one as he completed 27 of 37 passes for 469 yards and three touchdown passes for the Falcons in a 58-37 loss to True North in the Region 4-1M final.

Jeremy Arnum, Gulliver, boys’ basketball: Arnum scored a combined 36 points and grabbed a combined 15 rebounds while shooting 5 for 8 from 3-point range and 10 for 12 overall from the field in wins over Southwest and Florida Christian.
