Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Dec. 4)

The road to state in football is complete with three Broward County teams advancing to the championship round.

And the winter sports season is in full gear with teams coming off holiday tournaments and picking up early-season momentum.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Dec. 8, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

King Mack, St. Thomas Aquinas, football: Mack, a Penn State commit, returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown and later returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score to lead the Raiders back to the state final after a 45-3 win over Tampa Jesuit.

Brandon Inniss, American Heritage, football: Inniss caught eight passes for 146 yards and a touchdown to lead the Patriots to a 21-14 win over Jacksonville Bolles and a trip to the Class 2M state semifinals.

Riley Weiss, North Broward Prep, girls’ basketball: Weiss broke three school records as the Columbia University commit scored 50 points, made nine three-pointers and recorded 12 steals in an 83-44 win over Boca Raton Christian. Weiss also scored 23 points and had five assists, four rebounds and seven steals in a win over Gulliver.

Rafael Guerra, NSU University, boys’ soccer: Guerra had two goals and two assists to lead the Sharks in a 5-0 win over Palmer Trinity.

Julian Stanish, Chaminade-Madonna, girls’ soccer: Stanish had a combined five goals and three assists to lead the Lions to wins over Posnack and Avant Garde Academy.
