Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Oct. 2)

The past week saw several events canceled or postponed due to Hurricane Ian, but there were still some stellar performances by top Broward County athletes.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Oct. 6, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Brandon Inniss, American Heritage, football: Inniss caught seven passes for 81 yards including a key second-half touchdown and had a game-sealing interception in the fourth quarter as the Patriots beat Cardinal Gibbons 21-2 in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams.

Harlem Howard, Blanche Ely, football: Howard had two interceptions to lead the unbeaten Tigers to a 36-12 district victory over previously unbeaten Fort Lauderdale.

Dominant defense leads Blanche Ely to rout of Fort Lauderdale in battle of unbeatens

Jordan Rengifo, West Broward, football: Rengifo recorded three sacks, five tackles for loss and nine tackles overall to lead the Bobcats to a 25-21 district victory over Somerset Academy.

Raquel Edwards, Dillard, girls’ cross-country: Edwards was Broward’s top overall finisher (runner-up) with a time of 19:20 at the Flanagan Invitational.
