Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Jan. 30)

Several of Broward County’s top athletes kept delivering clutch performances in multiple winter sports this past week.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Feb. 2, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Kaiden Francis, South Plantation, boys’ basketball: Francis totaled a combined 42 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in wins over Hollywood Hills and Somerset Academy.

Nyla McFadden, St. Thomas Aquinas, girls’ basketball: McFadden scored 15 points in the BCAA Big 8 final to lead the Raiders to a 45-38 victory and their second consecutive county championship.

Nicholas Yancey, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ wrestling: Yancey won his third consecutive BCAA championship by winning the 138-pounds division and helped the Chiefs win the team title.

Gabe Herrero, Cypress Bay, boys’ wrestling: Herrero won the BCAA title at 126 pounds to become a three-time county champion.
