Police and National Guard Arrive at Michigan State Capitol Amid Protest Concerns

Local police and National Guard donned riot gear and surrounded the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing on January 17, in preparation for possible armed protests, local media reported.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor called on residents to avoid the downtown area. “In light of expected demonstrations at the Capitol Building this Sunday, I urge everyone to avoid coming to the Capitol and surrounding area,” he said.
