Police will increase their presence in Hackney after two shootings within an hour on Saturday.

The first incident occured about 2.40am on Saturday when a man, in his 20s, was stabbed and shots were fired in Bohemia Place. He was taken to hospital; his condition is not life-threatening.

At 3.30am more gunfire was heard from a house in Corsley Way.

The Metropolitan Police have committed to beefing up their presence on Hackney’s streets over the coming days “to help residents feel safe”.

Detective Chief Inspector James Bray said: “Over the coming days local people will see an increased police presence within these areas.

“This is not to alarm anyone but to help keep you safe.

"We're providing every support to our colleagues in specialist crime as they investigate, but we need the public's help.

“If you have information that could help us track down and remove lethal firearms from our streets please approach officers and tell them what you know."
