'Pokémon: Scarlet,' 'Pokémon: Violet': Lechonk, trainers and legendary Pokémon. Here's what you need to know
New professors, new starters and the beloved Lechonk are what await Pokémon players this fall, as the company announced "Pokémon: Scarlet" and "Pokémon: Violet" will be released on Nov. 18.
The newest game in the Pokémon series will feature the ninth generation of Pokémon in the franchise, but it will be Pokémon's first RPG (role-playing game), coming off the heels of "Pokémon Legends: Arceus."
"'Pokémon: Scarlet' and 'Pokémon: Violet' are the first RPGs in the Pokémon series. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, players will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with up to four players," the company said in a release.
Pokémon also released a 3-minute trailer of the game, showing off the first gameplay of the game, as well as new characters and Pokémon players will get to encounter.

What do we know about the starter Pokémon?
The starter Pokémon, the three players get to choose at the beginning of the game, have already been revealed, but new details were released about them, allowing players to begin making the decision which one to pick as they all have some unique personalities.
There is Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon who is "attention-seeking," Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon who loves to eat and Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon who "dislikes getting its head dirty."

What's the difference between 'Pokémon: Scarlet' and 'Pokémon Violet'?
Pokémon also announced the differences between the two games, beginning with the professors, with Professor Sada in "Pokémon: Scarlet" and Professor Turo in "Pokémon Violet."
Old Pokémon like Pikachu and Gengar were featured in the trailer, but some newer once were also unveiled. There's Smoliv, the tiny Olive Pokémon that has a fruit on its head and Pawmi, the Mouse Pokémon that sounds and looks like Pikachu's long-lost cousin because it "generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks" and shocks opponents.
Lechonk: What you need to know
The real star of the trailer was Lechonk, the new Hog Pokémon who looks like a bundle of joy. His official description states he charges forward in a panic if he's attacked and startled, and it "may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food."
As one chonky creature does, Lechonk became an instant fan favorite, with many Pokémon fans sharing their love of the apparently muscular hog.
