Frank Thomas is a lot like the rest of us baseball fans in a few ways. He’s just hit a few more homers and has a plaque in Cooperstown.
But Thomas, the MLB legend turned Fox baseball analyst, is excited for this year’s Home Run Derby too. He, too, is tantalized by the idea of two huge dudes — Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge — potentially meeting in the finals to bash homers against each other. Like the rest of us, Thomas marvels at Judge’s giant frame. There aren’t many players the 6-foot-5 Big Hurt has to look up to, but the 6-foot-7 Judge is one of them.
In a new episode of “The StewPod,” the Yahoo Sports baseball podcast, we talked to Thomas about that and various other All-Star Game topics, including his own Home Run Derby history. (He won in 1995 and dueled with Ken Griffey Jr. in 1994.)
You can hear more from Thomas on Fox’s All-Star coverage, including the pregame show alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Alex Rodriguez at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday. He’s also on the two-hour All-Star preview show airing on FS1 Monday at 3 p.m. ET with Burkhardt, Pete Rose and Tom Verducci.
