Podcast: Breaking down the Miami Marlins’ moves and what’s next as MLB lockout looms

It has been a free-for-all on the hot stove over the last couple days as MLB teams make their final pushes ahead of the impending expiration of the league’s collective bargaining agreement at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.

And the Marlins haven’t been excluded from the fun.

They’re signing outfielder Avisail Garcia. They’re extending ace Sandy Alcantara. And they traded for 2021 Gold Glove catcher Jacob Stallings.

And indications are the Marlins want to get more done — although some of their grander plans will likely have to wait until MLB and the Players’ Association agrees on a new CBA.

In the meantime, Jordan McPherson, the Miami Herald’s Marlins beat writer, takes a look on the latest episode of Fish Bytes at the deals the Marlins have made so far and reflects on the delightfulness of the past few days of the offseason with so many moves happening across the league. In the second half of the show, he provides a primer to Tuesday’s nontender deadline. A Sixto Sanchez update is also included.
