Carlos Baena, experienced former animator for Pixar, is making an animated horror film called ‘La Noria’, and so far it looks amazing.

Having worked in the visual effects department on film such as ‘Jurassic Park III’, ‘Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones’, and ‘Men In Black’, Baena is also a seasoned Pixar animator.

He’s worked on classics such as ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘Cars’, ‘Ratatouille’, ‘WALL-E’, ‘Toy Story 3′, and ‘Monsters University’, and has now set his sights on making an animated horror film, having set up a crowd-funding page on IndieGoGo to make it happen.

The story and inspiration behind the project is detailed on the funding page, and sounds rather intriguing:

“It combines suspense, horror, and emotion. It’s about a little boy who likes to draw and build toy ferris wheels who after a devastating loss encounters some creatures who turn his life upside down. Having found himself in a dark and difficult emotional situation at one point in his life, Carlos always wanted to tell a story based on the dark and emotional journey in a very visual way.”

Currently it’s amassed almost $32k of its $50k goal, and it’s only been live for 9 days, with a further 22 to go.

The small production team set to explore these dark, foreboding themes consist of Baena as the writer/director, producer Sasha Korellis, composer Johan Soderqvist (’Let The Right One In’), and sound designer Oriol Tarrago (’Devil’s Backbone’, ‘Crimson Peak’).

As you can see, the sneak-peek of the animation is haunting and undeniably superb. In fact, it’ll most certainly appeal to Pixar fans, as well as animation enthusiasts in general, as they wait to see this eerie CGI movie materialise.
