Pittsburgh Bridge Collapse Injures at Least 10

At least 10 people sustained minor injuries when a bridge collapsed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Friday morning, January 28, authorities said.

Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones said three of the injured were taken to a hospital, but none had life-threatening injuries. He added that a “massive gas leak” caused by the collapse had been brought under control.

Images released by Pittsburgh Public Safety showed several vehicles, included a public bus, on the collapsed Forbes Avenue bridge in Frick Park.

This video from Pat Beighley shows the scene as viewed from a park trail underneath the bridge.

Frick Park was closed to both pedestrians and traffic as authorities responded to the collapse.

The collapse came hours before President Joe Biden was due to visit the city to discuss infrastructure. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Twitter that the President had been told about the collapse and that his team was in touch with state and local officials.
