These are the first behind-the-scenes images of the 2022 Pirelli Calendar being shot by rock star Bryan Adams.

Mr Adams has photographed Jennifer Hudson, Cher and Rita Ora for the 2022 edition for the calendar.

Past calendars have featured a wide range of stars including Gigi Hadid, Serena Williams, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman and Emma Watson.

The theme for the 2022 calendar is On The Road and features artists portraying the life of working musicians.

Each artist poses for a different scene familiar to most musicians.

Ms Hudson is pictured portraying “arriving at the show”, while Cher is “in the Green Room” and Ms Ora shows “downtime post show.”

Speaking about the theme for the calendar, Mr Adams said: “On the road is where I have been for the last 45 years, because the life of a musician is made up of roads, travel, waiting in hotels, hours back stage.”

Cher, Grimes, Ms Hudson, Normani, Ms Ora, Bohan Phoenix, Iggy Pop, St. Vincent and Kali Uchis were photographed across Los Angeles for the calendar, including at the Palace Theatre and the Chateau Marmont hotel.

The 2022 Calendar will be revealed in full this November, and will mark the return of the Pirelli Calendar, which was suspended last year due to the pandemic.

Adams follows in the footsteps of Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton and Mario Testino.

The calendar, first produced in 1963, has toned down its content over the past few years.

In 2016, Ms Leibovitz featured well-dressed, high-achieving women, a notable break from the raunchier shots that had become associated with the product.

Adams’ photography has previously been published in British Vogue, American Vanity Fair and Esquire.

He has also shot advertising and PR campaigns for brands such as Hugo Boss and Fred Perry.

In September 2015, he was given an honorary fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in London for his work.

Last year saw Paolo Roversi photograph actresses Yara Shahidi, Mia Goth and Indya Moore, Chinese singer Chris Lee, Spanish singer Rosalia and French-Italian artist Stella Roversi for the project, which had the theme Looking For Juliet.

Adams, 61, is best known for releasing a string of hits in the 1980s.

His hit songs also include Heaven and (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.
