The playing surface at the Pinstripe Bowl does not seem to be a good one.
With temperatures at kickoff at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, around 22 degrees and wind chills in the teens, conditions for a good field aren’t ideal. But the turf laid down for the football game between Iowa and Boston College is more like the artificial turf you’ll find at your local gym or indoor training facility than the natural grass it’s supposed to be.
Need proof? Players were switching out of their cleats into more turf-type shoes.

Just look what happened at the beginning of the game before players started to make a switch.
Yeah, that’s not supposed to happen. Maybe playing a game at a baseball stadium in a cold-weather climate isn’t exactly the best idea.
At least Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz didn’t look cold.
