Pillars of Wellness: Canada’s First Online Rehab Group Program For COVID Long Haulers

·2 min read

We would like to announce that Pillars of Wellness is launching Canada’s first online rehab group program designed for individuals that have had a diagnosis or symptoms of COVID-19 and are experiencing ongoing symptoms and issues that limit their ability to return to their usual daily activities or employment duties.

With over 20,000 people in Canada suffering from long lasting symptoms of COVID with no government funding options or very little support in their rehabilitation, this program aims to bridge the gap to support, guide and educate with evidence-based methods that will help this population in their recovery journey (physical, psychological and cognitively).

Our COVID Long Haulers Guided Online Rehab Program is 10 weeks in duration and consists of a virtual assessment + 9 weeks of virtual education sessions. Health professionals involved in this program include: Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Speech and Language Pathologist, Naturopathic Doctor and Yoga Therapist.

Only people residing in Ontario are eligible to join this program.

Pillars of Wellness has been actively involved in treating COVID-19 Long-Haulers since the onset of the pandemic and has had great success in helping these clients improve their symptoms and overall state of well-being! Our clinic and the work we have been doing to help treat long haulers has been featured on CBC: Marketplace, Inside Halton, and The Morning Show (Global News).

Pillars of Wellness is an integrated care clinic which means we collaborate to produce results for our clients. We have a high degree of communication and clients can ebb and flow between services. This COVID group program is designed to help those vulnerable and those unable to access services to recovery from the long lasting COVID symptoms. We cannot ignore the estimated 10% of COVID-19 population that become long haulers. Without adequate support these individuals will continue to suffer and have widespread impact on our economy, health care system and society at large. This program offers "light" and allows these individuals to gain knowledge and understanding of how to navigate their own recovery and do this from the safety of their own home.

The starting date of the first launch of the program is June 1st, 2021. However, we will offer a one-on-one assessment prior June 1st.
