Picturehouse has announced that another of its London cinemas will be closing in the coming months.

Following the news earlier in the week that its cinemas in Fulham Road and Bromley will be closing, Picturehouse has now confirmed that the Stratford East cinema will also be closing by the end of next month.

"We've made the difficult decision to close Fulham Road, Stratford East and Bromley Picturehouse this summer," Picturehouse said in a statement (via Screen International).

"Each are beloved cinemas but increasing operational costs and declining admissions at these venues have left us with no other choice."

The chain, which owns 26 branches in the UK, previous announced via X/Twitter that its cinemas in Fulham Road and Bromley will close in the coming weeks, with the pages for each branch confirming the announcement.

"We're very sorry to announce that we've made the tough decision to close Fulham Road Picturehouse from Thu 11 July," read the first post. "Between now and then, you can continue to enjoy all we have to offer – we hope to see you soon. If you're a Member, we'll be in touch in due course."

This was followed by the announcement from the Bromley page, which read: "We're very sorry to announce that we've made the tough decision to close Bromley Picturehouse from Thu 1 Aug. Between now and then, you can continue to enjoy all we have to offer – we hope to see you in the cinema soon. If you're a Member, we'll be in touch in due course."

The Stratford East Picturehouse will be closing on July 29.

Regular customers commented on the news in both cases, with one X/Twitter user writing of the Bromley branch: “What a shame, this building looks iconic and I’m sure would have plenty of tales to tell.. surely there is some business plan that would allow her to stay in service??”

"Absolutely gutted about this as a member. I love the cinema and the great film selection. A lovely oasis for the arts in Bromley in a beautiful building. Why has this decision been made? And is there anything we can do to reverse it? #savebromleypicturehouse #bromleypicturehouse" wrote another user.

The moves comes following reports that Picturehouse’s parent company, Cineworld, was looking at the potential to either restructure aspects of its business or sell up entirely, with Deadline reporting that executives are reassessing UK operations.
