Shoigu says Russia and allies should step up military exercises in Asia
Russia and its allies in Asia should expand joint military exercises as they face a direct threat from attempts by the United States to expand its security influence in the region, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Friday. He was speaking at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a security grouping that includes Russia, India, China, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. "I believe that everyone present shares the opinion that the deployment of military infrastructure in the region by the United States and its allies is unacceptable," Shoigu said.

US probes Tesla recall of 2 million vehicles over Autopilot, citing concerns
U.S. auto safety regulators said Friday they have opened an investigation into whether Tesla's recall of more than 2 million vehicles announced in December to install new Autopilot safeguards is adequate. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said it was opening an investigation after identified concerns due to crash events after vehicles had the recalled software update installed "and results from preliminary NHTSA tests of remedied vehicles". NHTSA also cited Tesla's statement "that a portion of the remedy both requires the owner to opt in and allows a driver to readily reverse it."

Equinor's Hammerfest LNG plant outage extended until Saturday
The planned restart of Equinor's Hammerfest liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, which was evacuated and shut earlier this week due to a gas leak, has been postponed until Saturday, transparency data showed on Friday. The Norwegian energy group had previously said it planned to restart production on Friday at 1000 GMT after the gas leak had been repaired. The facility, which has a capacity to deliver 18.4 million cubic metres (mcm) per day, was briefly evacuated on Tuesday while already offline for a maintenance outage initially scheduled to last just one day.

London travel news LIVE: Tube stations shut amid new strike as two lines delayed after 'casualty on tracks'
Several London Underground stations are closed due to workers striking while two Tube lines were halted because of a casualty on the track. Transport for London marked five stations on the network at 10.30am on Friday due to the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association action. The union said the action was likely to cause Tube stations to close at the last minute, including into Saturday morning, but Transport for London said there will not be significant disruption.
