David Cronenberg – Leading the Canadian contingent at the Cannes Film Fest this year is acclaimed filmmaker David Cronenberg. A veteran of the prestigious festival, Cronenberg has premiered numerous films there in the past, including “Crash” and “A History of Violence.” The French are huge fans of the Toronto-born director and in 2006, Cronenberg was awarded the “Carosse d'Or” (Gold Coach) by the French Directors’ Guild. Cronenberg’s latest, the thriller “Cosmopolis” starring Robert Pattinson, is competing for Cannes' top prize this year: the Palme d’Or.
