MOVIE: 'The Lone Ranger'
STARRING: Johnny Depp

Maybe Disney needs to stop making $250 million movies based on pop culture characters that haven't been relevant in decades. The Mouse House looks to have another "John Carter"-sized flop with the would-be western blockbuster (even with Johnny Depp's name above the title), which couldn't even rally up $50 million over the five-day Fourth of July weekend.

MOVIE: 'White House Down'
STARRING: Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx

"Magic Mike" hunk Channing Tatum might not yet be the movie star we seem to think he is? Disaster master Roland Emmerich's flag-waving variation on the "Die Hard" formula with Jamie Foxx as the imperiled U.S. President has so far scored only a little over $52 million at the domestic box office against its pretty hefty $150 million price tag.

MOVIE: 'After Earth'
STARRING: Will Smith, Jaden Smith

The mopey $130 million sci-fi film starring the Smith Men and directed by M. Night Shyamalan will just squeak by thanks to international box office, which added over $140 million to the disappointing domestic take of just shy of $59 million. But Will Smith -- and Shyamalan, for that matter -- used to be bigger than this. Way bigger. Even Jaden's "The Karate Kid" made three times as much in the US.

MOVIE: 'The Hangover Part III'
STARRING: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis

The third "Hangover" film cost $103 million and brought in $111 million domestic; add to that a foreign box office tally of over $235 million and Warner Bros. execs are happy drunks. But it's a bitter victory when compared to how the other "Hangover" installment performed: the original 2009 film cost a mere $35 million and made over $277 domestic, and the 2011 sequel, which cost $80 million, made over $254 million. Audiences have apparently finally had enough to drink.

MOVIE: 'The Internship'
STARRING: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson

Audiences just didn't go for a feature-length Google commercial starring two aging comedians who are starting to be overshadowed by the likes of everyone who stars in "This Is the End." The film cost $58 million but has brought in only $42,823,074 domestically. It's a far cry from the $209 million the pair pulled in for "Wedding Crashers."

MOVIE: 'Tyler Perry Presents Peeples'
STARRING: Craig Robinson, Kerry Washington

Speaking of "This Is the End," audience seemed to prefer Craig Robinson facing Armageddon in that comedy than him crashing a Hamptons family reunion to propose to his ladylove, played by "Scandal" star Kerry Washington. Despite Tyler Perry providing clout with a "Presents" credit, the $15 million film only made $9,177,065 at the box office.

MOVIE: 'The Bling Ring'
STARRING: Emma Watson

We all love Emma Watson, but apparently not as much as we love Hermione Granger. The Hogwarts alum's crime comedy wasn't nearly as popular with audiences as any "Harry Potter" movie with a to-date domestic gross of only $5,119,523 -- luckily, director Sofia Coppola was only working with an $8 million budget, so international box office and what will probably be a very lucrative second life on VOD and Blu-ray will eventually result in a decent score.

MOVIE: 'The Big Wedding'
STARRING: Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton

Even though it tried to get an early jump on the summer season, this dud was proof positive that even all-star ensembles can't always sell goofy situational comedies. The $35 million film made only $21,819,348 at the box office, despite a cast that includes De Niro, Keaton, Katherine Heigl, Susan Sarandon, Topher Grace, Amanda Seyfried and Robin Williams.
