Body doubles of Oscar favorites

Penelope Cruz turned to family for help when she needed a double during her pregnancy.

They used the body of model Shelley Michelle. It was also her arms and legs that were shown in the film's opening scenes, where Roberts is meant to be pulling on thigh-high boots and adding bracelets. Romanian ballerina Roberta Lorincz (pictured inset) stepped in for the scenes that made Knightley uncomfortable. "You don't even dream of stuff like this in Romania. As a dancer I have no worries about my body," said Lorincz. "But Keira is a very beautiful young woman."

Jennifer Beals didn't do all her own moves for "Flashdance."

Dancer Marine Jahan pulled off the more complicated moves (along with a male break dancer in a wig, who doubled for Beals in the audition for "What a Feeling").
