The Sacramento Sikh Society’s held its first Nagar Kirtan parade in the community surrounding the society’s temple on Bradshaw Road on Sunday. The event is a Sikh custom that involves the singing of holy hymns in a processional through a community.
The event, which was disrupted at near its conclusion by violence, was filled with colorful traditional dress, which followed a seven-mile route on Bradshaw Road, Vintage Park Drive, Elk Grove Florin Road and Gerber Road.

A local man is being charged with first degree murder. According to St. Pete Police, 28-year-old, Devin Hansen shot his wife and then chased after the ambulance that she was in. A phone call to Baltimore County police led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Montgomery County high school student. The student is charged with threats of mass violence, and authorities said it took several agencies working together to make the arrest, including the FBI. In a joint investigation with the FBI, Montgomery County police said they discovered a manifesto written by Andrea Ye, 18, of Rockville, whose preferred name is Alex Ye.
