Need pet supplies? Find free pet food, vaccines, microchips at this Fort Worth event

Free pet food, vaccines, microchips and other supplies will be handed out at the “Pets are Family” event at the Bob Bolen Complex, 505 W Felix St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 10. Supplies and services are first come, first served while they last.

As inflation continue to push prices higher, many families in Fort Worth are having to make hard decisions on how to make-do with their existing food budgets. Even food banks are asking for help to get through the holidays.

As families struggle, pet advocates around the state know food and supplies for animals usually gets sacrificed. Or worst, the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control have seen an additional 1,000 animals being dropped with them so far this year. The health of animals is also a big concern as occurrences of canine flu have been suspected in North Texas.

With that in mind, the SPCA of Texas and Spay Neuter Network via CUDDLY are asking for donations to help families make ends meet. The window to give is short and the animal advocacy groups hope people will act so they can collect up to 40,000 pounds of food.
